Easter 2010 Recap
April 7, 2010
Praise the Lord for a record breaking Easter Sunday! For the first time ever, SBC had over 1,000 people worshiping for Easter. But not only that, our Engage Network totaled over 1,500 people! Lakeside Fellowship had over 300 and Living Waters over 200 last Sunday. All of our churches have much by way of follow up to do so be in prayer for us as we attempt to make contacts with our many visitors.
Paul told Titus to “adorn the gospel of God our Savior in all things”. I want to take a moment to praise the Lord for all of the adornment to the Gospel that was going on here last Easter Sunday. At the risk of not naming some of you, I want to thank Stu Mauseth and his “crew” who fed some 900 an Easter breakfast with the help of the Young’s, Buby’s, Cody Robertson, Ed Burke and the Swartzendruber’s. Also to our fabulous greeters and ushers, our special choir and the worship team that led us to exalt our Risen Savior. A big thanks to Doug Porter and our technology team for all their work before, during and after the services. Without the help of our nursery and Children’s Church workers we could not have had the order that we had in our services. Of course these sacrificial servants should be thanked every week but a big shout out to you for all your work on Easter. And what would we do without Dick Ober who, along with Bob Dvorak, Dave Shetterly, Greg Stewart and Kermit McElvain brought order to our parking lot by shuttling folks back and forth as needed. I know that I’m probably missing 25 other people so please don’t be hurt if I failed to mention your name. I am grateful to you – to all of you for “your work and the love that you have showed for His sake.”
Pastor Pat Nemmers
Pastor Heading to Shepherds’ Conference
March 1, 2010
Pastor Pat Nemmers & his wife Marilyn along with Pastor Dave Heisterkamp and his wife Deb are heading to the Shepherds’ Conference in California today. This is a great time for them to get away and be challenged and taught to instead of the ones doing the teaching. Please be praying for them as they travel.
Lisa Pedersen, our Office Manager and Children’s Director, will also be heading to California (strangely on the same flight sitting right behind pastor) to visit Amalie Parmerlee’s family with Amalie. She will be gone all this week and Judy Thorson will be covering the office for her.
Also, Hannah De Cleene, student at FBBC and Daughter of our Evangelism Pastor, Chuck De Cleene, flew out this morning to Spain where she will be teaching for the next two months.
Please be in prayer for her safety and ministry that she has during this time away. If you’d like to keep up with her while she is in Spain, here is a link to her blog that she will be writing on regularly www.hannahdecleene.blogspot.com.

New Website
February 22, 2010
We’ve just launched our new website that has been in the making for many, many months. The front page is designed to be always changing with new content almost every day. Over on the right there are links to our social networking accounts like Facebook, Twitter or our sermon audio podcasts on iTunes. We’ve also made it easy to listen to the most recent sermon right from the front of the site. If you’re looking for something that’s not right on the front page, check out the menu across the top. If you need help, just ask here and we’ll try to help. Also, please give us your feedback on the new design here in the comments.
Toddler Nursery Remodel Complete
February 22, 2010
The toddler nursery remodel is now complete. The wall was taken down and a new drop ceiling installed along with canned lighting. This makes the room feel much larger and allows teachers to see all the kids at once.
Two Tragedies: The Crisis in Haiti and a Small View of God
January 14, 2010
As I mentioned this morning the crisis in Haiti has called us to think about our theology as well as our compassion. Times like 9/11, the tsunami of a few years back, Katrina, and now Haiti challenge our hearts as well as our heads. Often believers struggle giving an answer to their fellow man as to why God would allow or dictate events such as these. In truth these events often reveal not only the unbelievers small view of God, but sadly believers as well.

Our Response to Earthquake in Haiti
January 14, 2010
By now most of you are hearing about the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Reports are still coming in as I write of literally tens of thousands of people confirmed dead. Haiti is by far the poorest country in the western hemisphere and only 700 miles off the tip of Florida. Probably no other country is more frequently visited by US missionaries, peace corp, etc. than Haiti.
The situation there is still in a state of panic. Governments from around the world are already responding and food supplies and water are getting there but the distribution of those supplies is still being organized. On top of that there is rubble everywhere. It is a dangerous place to be right now. The purpose of this email is three-fold. One, pray for the people of Haiti and the believers on the ground there. Secondly, be patient as we are investigating both the timing and the way in which we might help. Be warned, this is also a time where evil men will rise up in an effort to scam you of your monies. Lastly and speaking of money, no doubt many of you would like to give sooner than later toward this cause in Haiti. Therefore this Sunday night we will take up a special offering to that end. Perhaps by then we can share what ministry or agency we will funnel those monies through in our effort to make sure it gets directly to the people of Haiti.
My guess is that some of you are wondering what all this means from God’s perspective. I will be sending out a Behind the Scenes later on today in regards to that question.
In Christ,
Pastor Pat
